Printing the Floor at the Roswell Museum at Art Center

With the help of 8 others, I was able to print two 15 foot diameter woodcuts by hand using wooden spoons as our printing tools. As the long panels of kozo paper were pulled off the blocks they made the following pattern on the walls.

During the exhibition, Reflected in Real Time, I used the gallery as a studio to create, on site, two floor sized woodcuts and a monumental inflatable sculpture – each reflecting the image of the other. The following footage was taken by Dave Camlin:

In early November I had the pleasure of working with master printers Bill Lagatutta and Peter Haarz to develop a suite of new lithographs.

I will be having a solo show at ICON Contemporary Art from August 14-September 11, titled, ADDENDUM. This show features small scale work from 2009-2010 including collage, and inflatable sculptures. ICON Contemporary Art is located at 19 Mason Street in Brunswick, Maine.

Makeshift at the Portland Museum of Art

Makeshift, will open this Friday, August 6th from 5-8:00 at the Portland Museum of Art, in Portland, Maine, and runs until October 17th, 2010.

The show is composed of 4 parts: 2 large sculptural installations (the Great Haul and Full Blown), a series of large blueprints (Cyanotypes), and a series of intaglios (inflatable drypoints). A short documentary about the making of the exhibition will accompany the show and a small catalogue will also be available.

Pictured here is The Great Haul made from sewn sheet plastic and tarps hanging 22 feet from the clerestory.

Two new forms from the past few weeks -- both made from tape and sheet plastic. The yellow one is about 4 feet long, and the grey/black one is about 30 inches in diameter.

Rome

From September 2009 to June 2010 I am working in a studio at the American Academy in Rome. I am currently making a series of inflatable forms from repurposed plastic -- mostly bags from the grocery store and packaging for food -- and tape. They deflate slowly, and I enjoy the transition they make from 3D forms into deflated 2D shapes.
